What is JS-SEZ?

The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is a strategic economic collaboration between Malaysia and Singapore, launched on 7 January 2025. It aims to enhance cross-border trade, investment, and business connectivity by combining Johor’s industrial strength with Singapore’s financial and logistical expertise.

The JS-SEZ focuses on high-impact sectors and well-defined flagship zones to attract investment, stimulate economic activity, and position the region as a leading business hub in Southeast Asia.

Manufacturing

Promoting high-value manufacturing activities, including advanced materials, semiconductors, and precision engineering.
Logistics

Strengthening supply chain connectivity and trade facilitation between Malaysia and Singapore.
Food

Encouraging investment in food processing,

agri-tech, and sustainable food production.

Enhancing cross-border tourism infrastructure and services.

Tax Benefits

Companies operating in the JS-SEZ can benefit from tax incentives, including preferential corporate tax rates for high-growth sectors and a special personal income tax rate introduced by the Ministry of Finance.

Infrastructure Support

The Malaysian government will create a dedicated fund to support infrastructure projects, while Singapore will offer financial assistance to help Singaporean businesses expand within the JS-SEZ.

Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre – Johor (IMFC-J)

This centre serves as a one-stop hub for facilitating investments by streamlining processes and expediting approvals.

Strategic Hub

JS-SEZ offers strong regional and global connectivity, allowing goods produced within the zone to be exported efficiently through both Singapore and Johor.

Enhanced Passes

Malaysia’s existing visa options, such as the DE Rantau Nomad Pass, will be improved to facilitate easier access and mobility for business professionals.

Pioneer Status (PS) and Investment Tax Allowance

Companies can benefit from a five-year partial income tax exemption under the Pioneer Status and a 60% allowance on qualifying capital expenditures through the Investment Tax Allowance.

The JS-SEZ encompasses nine key development zones in Johor, each positioned to leverage strategic advantages and drive sectoral growth:
